Assessment is a continuous and transparent process that supports learning and encourages development. It has never been this easy!
Assessment Functions Aligned with Curriculum Objectives
Alfons’ built-in assessment functions are an extremely effective way to promote learning and ensure that students develop steadily according to the curriculum.
Assessment is continuous and transparent, providing students with a clear view of how their skills are progressing and where they need to focus to improve their performance. It offers regular feedback that encourages learning and setting new goals. With continuous assessment, students can adjust their approach before the final evaluation, making learning more effective and the learning experience more positive.
Task-based or Observation-based Assessment?
Curriculum-based, goal-oriented assessment can be implemented in Alfons using two different methods: task-based and observation-based assessment.
Task-based assessment is ideal when you want to evaluate students’ performance based on their completed tasks, such as homework or exercises done during lessons. This assessment method relies on tangible tasks that can be compared to the curriculum objectives. Alfons automatically calculates the student’s competency level based on their performance, visible to the teacher. The assessment process is quick and ensures objectivity by being data-driven.
On the other hand, observation-based assessment is suited for evaluating a student’s overall work. You can prepare an assessment template with feedback statements in advance and conduct the evaluation via your smartphone during the lesson. This allows for real-time feedback for students right after the lesson ends. When students know what they need to improve and where they are already strong, they can better focus their learning efforts.
Regular feedback and clear goals improve learning outcomes
One of the key benefits of continuous goal-based assessment is its impact on learning outcomes. When students receive regular feedback and are set clear goals, the learning process becomes more structured and goal-oriented. This helps students focus better and achieve higher levels of performance.
Moreover, the transparency of assessments provides students and their parents with a clear picture of how learning is progressing and which areas need further practice. This type of assessment process is key to successful, learner-centered teaching, where each student can excel in their own way!
Assessment Rubrics
Using rubrics, you can quickly display the assessment criteria to both yourself and your students, streamlining the evaluation process.
