Alfons’ flexible task types for various teaching needs

In Alfons, you have access to a variety of task types for different teaching situations. You can use tasks either as standalone units or linked to the provided theory materials.

The most common digital task type is multiple choice, which allows you to easily and quickly assess a student’s reading comprehension. You can create multiple-choice tasks yourself or use AI, which reads the theory material for you and generates ready-made multiple-choice tasks. After reviewing them, you can publish the tasks to students. All multiple-choice tasks are automatically graded, providing students with instant feedback on their proficiency level. For some tasks, it is also useful to include images, and Alfons offers a specific task type for this purpose.

The written task is a typical task type used to assess a student’s broader understanding of a subject and to develop writing skills. The teacher has access to the most user-friendly comment tool on the market for providing feedback on assessments. Students can view the improvements made to their text by the teacher along with the grading.

Sorting and organizing tasks are suitable for various learning situations. They are gamified and easy for younger students to grasp, and they come with automatic grading.

The word pairing task is specifically designed for language learning. You can use AI by providing a desired topic, and AI will generate word pairs in different languages for you. This allows you to practice vocabulary with minimal effort.

The process task is developed as a skill diary, for example, in arts and crafts or other teaching situations where student assessment is based on long-term and systematic work. Students add information about their progress and skills to the diary. In the end, the teacher can assess the task and return it to the students.

For teaching situations where the product is created in an external system or as part of a student group project, the “return file” task type is available. Students can submit any file type or even photos and scans using this feature.

Alfons’ task types are not only easy to use but are also designed to support pedagogical objectives and provide students with meaningful learning experiences. The tasks are interactive, gamified, and motivating, inspiring students to learn and deepen their skills.

Starting in the spring of 2025, teachers will be able to create all tasks using AI based on the desired theory material or subject area for different skill levels.

We will be launching a wide range of built-in AI tools in spring 2025, enabling task ideation, creation, and differentiation for students at different skill levels. These features will be introduced at the ITK Conference in Tampere, Finland on April 23-25, 2025. If you want to learn more in advance, feel free to contact us!
