Alfons has been developed based on the wishes of Finnish teachers. These requests emphasize the system’s ease of use, as well as its structure and functionalities aligned with curriculums. Our primary goal is to make teachers’ work easier, not harder.

The structure of Alfons is designed to support local curriculum. The objectives and content areas of the curriculum are integrated to support course planning, ensuring that your plans are based on the localized national curriculum. This adds new dimensions to your work and helps you grow pedagogically stronger.

If you wish you can continue using traditional textbooks as theory materials, or alternatively, create learning content using built-in advanced AI, aligned with your curriculum goals. AI takes your creativity to a whole new level.

You can differentiate materials into different levels of learning content and ensure learning outcomes through diverse digital tasks. Some tasks are automatically graded, while others are reviewed by the teacher. You have a wide range of tools available for grading.

Easy and goal-oriented assessments

According to the curriculum, assessments must be based on specific learning objectives. Alfons is a unique learning environment where this is made possible. The curriculum objectives are integrated into your course from start to finish, allowing you to conduct goal-based assessments throughout the academic year. Assessments are made regularly, focusing on continuous student development rather than relying solely on individual tests. This is something both students and parents appreciate.

Assigning grades for the academic year has never been easier or faster. You will receive individual summaries of all assessments for the year, which Alfons uses to calculate averages and automatically suggest a justified grade.

All assessments and learning outcomes are always at your fingertips, and you can be confident that students’ grades are justified. In case of re-evaluation, all collected assessment data is available to support you.

A functional LMS learning environment for extensive use

Alfons is a SaaS service developed in Finland for all types of teaching and learning. The system is very easy to implement and does not require intensive IT support or updates. This allows you to focus on other important tasks while ensuring that teachers always have access to the latest version of the software.

Teachers can order student licenses directly from us and activate them for use. The licenses are individual and valid for 12 months at a time. Teachers at the school share the access keys with students, allowing them to join the appropriate courses. Admins are provided with administrator credentials to conveniently monitor the number of licenses and system usage.

Support always at your fingertips

We offer user support for teachers and school administrators, available weekdays from 8.00 to 16.00 (CET+2 Helsinki). Our support is always handled by a english-speaking expert with thorough knowledge of the subject, ensuring quick and high quality response times. This guarantees that teaching runs smoothly without any issues or immediate support from the IT department.

GDPR – Personal data is securely stored

We collect and store personal data of both teachers and students. The personal data is minimized and is used solely for purposes related to providing the service. All personal data and information are stored in local data centers, ensuring the security of the data now and in the future.

We also provide you with a ready-made DPA (Data Processing Agreement), where we outline the basis for personal data processing. A DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) is not required for Alfons, but we are available to assist in its creation if needed.

Integrations

Alfons is integrated with Azure AD and Google for single sign-on, allowing teachers and students to use the familiar school credentials to log into the system. We also utilize the OpenAI APIs for trustworthy Alfons AI features. We do not transfer any personal data trough API.

The Alfons database is specifically designed for integrations. If needed, we can integrate your existing student management system with Alfons and send learning outcomes back in the desired format.

Alfons is designed to make your learning easier and more fun!

In Alfons, the teacher adds you to the necessary courses, which you can always find on your homepage. You join the courses using a personal course code provided by the teacher.

You can use Alfons on the computer provided by your school or even on your own smartphone. For some tasks, a smartphone might even work better than a computer.

When logging in, you must use your school email address and your own password. Remember to keep all your passwords private!

On the courses, you will find various interesting learning materials and tasks. For some tasks, Alfons will automatically give you feedback on whether you answered correctly or incorrectly, while other tasks will be reviewed and graded by your teacher.

You will also accumulate official assessments that affect your final grades for the year. So, be sure to actively check what kinds of assessments your teacher provides! You will always receive notifications via email, where you can review the assessments.

Curriculum-based, reliable teaching

Alfons is a comprehensive digital learning environment developed in Finland, designed to be especially easy to use for all age groups. Data security and the protected handling of personal data are at the core of our system, and you can be confident that your child’s information is handled securely. We store all data in local data centers, and the information is only used for educational purposes. No ad´s ever!

In Alfons, students engage with learning materials selected by the teacher, as well as related tasks. For some tasks, students receive automatic feedback, while for others, the teacher provides personal feedback. There is also a task-specific chat available for students to ask for help from the teacher.

Students receive curriculum-based assessments from their teachers multiple times during the academic year. The results of these assessments are stored on the student’s “My Data” page. Parents do not have their own Alfons accounts, ensuring that only the appropriate individuals can access learning results. We recommend reviewing the assessments and other data together with your child. You can also review assessments at the task level and discuss any challenges and successes together.

In line with the curriculum, students are assessed based on learning objectives. All assessments contribute to the teacher’s final determination of the student’s grade. The final grade for the academic year is based on the average of all the assessments.
